Help! I think I may have a cold or flu
Since we are on the cusp of the winter cold and flu season, it was only a matter of time before a virus took over my body. It started with a sore throat and fatigue. Then I started with what I normally see as the first signs of a virus, frequent sneezing.
Autoimmune disease is a beast
Uh oh! The thing is, I have an autoimmune disease/disorder called Sjögren’s (SHOW-grins) syndrome. With this disorder, your immune system mistakenly attacks your body’s own cells and tissues, which can affect your joints, thyroid, kidneys, liver, lungs, skin, and nerves in addition to your salivary glands and tear ducts. It is a beast at times and my symptoms flare up much like with other autoimmune conditions. I also have Hashimoto’s disease, Epilepsy, PCOS, and battle with many symptoms as a result.
To minimize these autoimmune flares and decrease inflammation, I have to keep myself as healthy as possible and stay away from all irritants including toxic products and equally important all other illnesses that compromise my immune system.
It was time to act quickly and support my body through what became one of the worse viruses I have ever had. It is so important for me to minimize the use of prescription and over-the-counter medications. I am not totally against antibiotics or visiting the doctor. I just prefer natural remedies when possible. Sometimes our bodies just need time and a little natural boost.
